About Garfield Community Website Inc
Garfield Community Website Inc is a volunteer-run, not-for-profit organisation that manages this community website for the West Gippsland Rail Towns.

Garfield Community Website Inc was formed to provide a central, online home for information about the West Gippsland Rail Town communities.

We work alongside local volunteers and organisations to share reliable, up-to-date details about events, services, and opportunities to get involved.

In brief, our story so far:

  • Early vision: Local residents recognised the need for a shared community website. We created the Garfield Community Website for Garfield residents.
  • Formal incorporation: Garfield Community Website Inc was established as a not-for-profit to manage the site responsibly.
  • Growing network: We later connected with groups across the West Gippsland Rail Towns to share information and links, creating the West Gippsland Rail Towns website.

Our Purpose and Role in the Community

Our purpose is to make it easier for residents, visitors, and community organisations to find clear, trusted information about the West Gippsland Rail Towns in one place.

We aim to:

  • Connect people and groups: help residents discover local clubs, associations, and services.
  • Support local communication: provide a central hub where updates and community news can be easily found.
  • Showcase our towns: highlight what makes our West Gippsland Rail Towns great places to live, work, and visit.
  • Strengthen collaboration: encourage cooperation between community organisations, volunteers, and supporters.

As a small, incorporated association, we focus on coordination, clarity, and accessibility rather than replacing the work of existing groups. Our role is to complement and support the excellent work that local organisations are already doing.

Working with Associated Organisations

Garfield Community Website Inc does not work in isolation. We collaborate with a network of local organisations to make sure this website reflects the breadth of community life.

Our associated organisations currently include:

Each of these groups retains its own identity, leadership, and areas of focus. Our job is to:

  • Maintain clear links to their websites and contact points.
  • Coordinate on shared information that appears across our pages.

By working together, we can present a more complete picture of what is happening in and around the West Gippsland Rail Towns, without duplicating effort.
