Why We Exist

Garfield Community Website Inc exists to bring together local information, services, and stories so that people in the West Gippsland Rail Towns can find what they need in one trusted place.

We are a not-for-profit group that curates and connects community websites, promotes local activities, and makes it easier for residents, visitors, and community organisations to stay informed.

A Connected, Informed Community

Our vision is for the West Gippsland Rail Towns to be well connected, well informed, and proud of their shared identity.

We see the website as a digital meeting place that links residents, businesses, visitors, and community groups, helping everyone to find reliable information and discover ways to get involved.

What Guides Our Decisions
Values in Practice

Our values are put into practice through how we manage the website, how we communicate with partners, and how our committee operates.

If you would like more detail on how these values shape our decision-making, you can read about our structures and processes on the Governance & Committee page.

Listening to Local Needs

The idea for Garfield Community Website Inc grew from local conversations about how hard it could be to find accurate, up-to-date information about events, services, and groups in the West Gippsland Rail Towns.

Community members, volunteers, and representatives from associated organisations recognised that a central online hub could make it easier to share information and support one another.

Forming a Formal Organisation

As the website concept took shape, it became clear that a formal structure was needed to manage content, partnerships, and responsibilities.

This led to the establishment of Garfield Community Website Inc, with a committee, governance framework, and clear roles so that the website could be maintained in a transparent and sustainable way.

Our Journey So Far

Since the first idea was discussed, the website and organisation have grown steadily through the efforts of volunteers, partner groups, and supporters.

This timeline highlights some of the key steps in our development and how we have responded to community needs along the way.
